Victory Boulevard and Manor Road intersection was the focal point of a significant commercial district for many years. However, its significance has waned over the past few years because of the opening of the Staten Island Mall in 1973. In addition, the Verrazano Narrows Bridge was constructed in the area where it was opened in 1964. Compared to most neighborhoods in the area, Castleton Corners was relatively unaffected by the massive population increase following its opening.
